We're used to seeing her standing in front of a weather map, but Carol Kirkwood looked blooming lovely pictured at the Chelsea Flower Show.
While she was still reporting for BBC Breakfast, she stunned onlookers in a cream mid-length dress with weave detail at the waist. And while it was very glam, she opted for a sensible choice of footwear in a pair of ballet flats given the amount of walking involved in attending the prestigious annual event.
All of the main garden categories return to the Royal Hospital Chelsea this year. The Show Gardens along Main Avenue, Sanctuary and Feature Gardens explore themes through horticulture, while the All About Plants area in the Floral Marquee focuses on planting. And this year is billed as the most sustainable to date.
Carol was one of many well-known faces to attend this year's show. Also spotted was President of the National Garden Scheme Dame Mary Berry who shook hands with fellow attendees and posed for photos with gardening guru and pal Alan Titchmarsh in the National Garden Scheme garden.
Meanwhile, singer Beverley Knight looked delighted to be among the displays, and even wore a green dress for the occasion, while National Autistic Society ambassador and TV presenter Chris Packham spent a lot of time in the National Autistic Society Garden. Last year Chris expressed his regret at not doing more to help the planet as he said he felt 'wretched and guilty' over climate change.
Carol, 61, looked delighted to be back at the event which holds a special place in her heart as she revealed her engagement to her partner Steve live on BBC Breakfast while reporting from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022.
At the time, she showed off her engagement ring during a weather forecast and said: "We went out for a picnic, I had absolutely no idea. The weather was glorious, we were sitting chatting... he was fumbling in his pocket and then out came a ring, I thought he was joking actually, I didn't believe him to start with."
The couple's wedding took place in Buckinghamshire last year and in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Carol thanked well-wishers and said she and Steve are "bursting with happiness". She later told BBC Breakfast, "It wasn't a 'secret' wedding, just a private one. It was the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding. We are both so incredibly happy."
Carol has not revealed many details about her hubby, including his last name, but she previously told Prima Magazine that he was "extremely handsome" and "always making me laugh".
She said, "He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it's 2.45am! And he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses."
Carol, who finished 10th in the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, added that he was "the best thing that's ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt".
