They say that fragrances are powerful reminders of certain times and places, and there's a real trend right now for sunny, summery, sun cream-like scents – and this beauty editor-approved perfume is definitely worth sniffing out.
I'm a huge fan of this perfume category; warm, creamy, skin-like scents, usually with notes of coconut, vanilla, woods, musks and sea salt – and I've recently discovered one such perfume that falls perfectly into this category, yet is something of an industry secret.
Jil Sander Sun first launched in 1989, and inside its retro bottle is an eau de toilette than smells just like sun cream, with notes of lemon, white flowers, vanilla tonka bean and sandalwood. If you're a fan of Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess or Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk, I think you'll love this – and, even better, it's less than £12.

This Jil Sander scent isn't the easiest to find but I've tracked it down on Amazon, where it currently costs £13.02 for a 30ml bottle and £19.99 for a 75ml bottle – this is especially handy if you're an Amazon Prime member, as you can get it delivered with free next day delivery.
It's also available to buy through Superdrug's Marketplace section of the website, where it's currently reduced from £12.95 to £11.95, although you will have to pay a delivery charge. Clearly Superdrug shoppers think it's worth the money though, as it has racked up an impressive 30,000 reviews online.
This perfume is proving popular on Amazon too, with almost 8,000 five star reviews from shoppers who love its nostalgic scent.
"Love this, bought first on the way out to Greece, I wore it every day and it will forever remind me of an amazing Greek holiday," wrote one person.
Another review reads: "This is my fave fragrance since I was a teenager so reminds me good old days. Perfect for summer or to reminds us about sun."
"Perfect fragrance for summer," a third simply put.
And I totally agree. It's a new firm favourite with me; the 30ml bottle will be coming with me on holidays, and even if it's not sun cream weather this summer, this will definitely remind me of warmer days.

For something similar, keep an eye out for Nivea Sun Eau de Toilette coming back into the big retailers this summer; it smells exactly like the brand's famous sun creams.
And for slightly more tropical, sweet and floral scents, you can't go wrong with Sol de Janeiro's body mists – and you can pick up a discovery set of all five for £40 here.
