Emmerdale fans witnessed Tom King's latest controlling plot in Thursday night's episode, with the soap villain setting up a puppy cam to spy on his wife. However, fans have taken to social media to poke holes in the storyline as they're not convinced by how believable it is.

In Thursday 16 May's episode, Tom began listening in on the puppy cam to Belle's conversation with Lydia and Mandy. With the group lightly teasing Tom, he began to grow more and more angry as he continued to spy in, before he returned home.

However, fans can't believe how Belle hasn't noticed the camera - particularly as it emits a huge red light. "Nope, none of them notice the bright red light # Emmerdale," one viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"How the f**k not one of them can see that camera is beyond me, it's literally shouting out, look at me I'm here," another wrote alongside a series of laughing emojis. Another tweeted a GIF of a massive camera with the sarcastic caption: "Belle will never see my hidden camera #Emmerdale."

"You'd think one of them would see the flashing light...#emmerdale," another viewer wrote. " Other fans continued to point out the flaw, adding: "Oh what could that flashing red light be, don't worry it's just the webcam #Emmerdale."

Later, in distressing scenes, Belle realised that Tom had been listening in and spying.

She said: “Were you spying on me? This makes perfect sense. You turned up for quiche that you didn’t even like last night.

“If you are turning this into a joke, you are obviously guilty. And if you don’t feel bad, just tell me.”

While Tom tried to convince her otherwise, she soon realised that he has been watching her when she's alone at home, leading her to say: “Have you any idea how weird and intrusive it feels?”

“This is the problem Tom, you can never accept any criticism or admit that the stuff that you do is not normal.

“You burned my hand, destroyed my mum’s ashes. Normal people do not force someone’s hand under a burning tap.”

As she told him that she believes he "needs help", he brutally punched her in the stomach - something viewers found hard to watch.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
