Good Morning Britain fans will know by now that host Richard Madeley isn't afraid to be blunt - something which competitions presenter Jake Quickenden learnt first-hand during Monday morning's show.
The former X Factor star received a jokey telling-off from Richard whilst presenting a segment from south west London. Jake, 35, spent Monday morning telling GMB viewers about the show's latest competition which offers the chance to win £50,000 in cash and a BMW.
However, in an eco-twist, the competition segment involved Jake riding a stationary bicycle which powered a smoothie maker, with the presenter offering to make all members of the crew a smoothie. Back in the studio, Richard introduced the segment, saying: "It's competition time now and it's a brand new one, it's worth over £97,000 combined. Jake Quickenden is live with all the details."
When the cameras cut to Jake, he proceeded to act as though he didn't know he was being filmed. "Nobody told me that I'd be doing this," he said, acting indignant whilst on the bike. "My agent wasn't told. Are we live?"
After laughing along with co-host Susanna Reid, Richard awkwardly interjected by telling Jake: "Get on with it!" Jake pressed on, responding: "Oh, hi guys! Your smoothies are on the way.
"They'll be with you shortly. This is all for the competition this week, we're going eco-friendly."
Over the weekend, Good Morning Britain was reportedly just one of the ITV shows to be dealt a major blow as bosses enter 'crisis talks' to deal with a drop in viewership. According to The Sun, GMB, This Morning, Loose Women and Lorraine could be facing salary freezes and potential redundancies as they deal with a decline in ratings.
A source told the publication: "ITV is really tightening their belt. There have been concerns for months at the top but now that it’s trickled down to the shop floor it feels very depressing. A lot of staff are being put on three-month contracts, probably so they can get rid of people easily."
Meanwhile last week, GMB aired an emotional episode which saw deaf model Georgia Meacham reduced to tears after being surprised on-set by Love Island's Tasha Ghouri. Tasha - who was Love Island's first-ever deaf contestant - stopped by the studio to surprise Georgia, who had spoken about how Tasha had inspired her.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX
