Homes Under The Hammer Martel Maxwell lives in a stunning home that could easily be mistaken for a Beverly Hills luxury pad. Despite being based in Dundee, her beautiful house is filled with Californian sunshine thanks to its large windows and spacious living areas.
As a co-host on the popular property show, Martel has plenty of experience in home renovations and interior design, and it's clear she has impeccable taste when it comes to decorating her own home.
The talented Scottish journalist, who took over from Lucy Alexander as presenter in 2017, shares her gorgeous open-plan home with her husband and their three young sons. She often gives fans a sneak peek into her luxurious and carefully designed home on Instagram. Let's take a look inside...
Swish living room, and white sofa regret
One of the standout features of Martel's home is her stylish living room. She has chosen chic and sophisticated decor, including polished floorboards and a cosy fireplace, which add warmth to the neutral colour scheme.
In one photo shared on Instagram, fans got a glimpse of the family's impressive open-plan living area, complete with a marble coffee table at the centre, shining under the soft glow of the light, reports the Mirror.
Martel shared a funny moment about her sofa that lots of busy mums will understand. She posted: "That moment as you come down the stairs, the kids are asleep and you think: 'Sofa, now, mine'. And no, with three wee boys (or me with a glass of red) I wouldn't get a white sofa again."
Enormous windows to let the sunshine in
The huge windows of Martel's home give the property a very glam look, but they also serve an important functional purpose, allowing plenty of sunshine, warmth, and, of course, mood-boosting views.
Martel told Hello! magazine that she designed her house to be cosy even though Scotland can be very cold. She said: "When you live in Scotland, it can get so very cold - and yet our house is always toasty. When designing our home, we realised the weather might not be tropical but the East of Scotland is so bright and sunny - so put windows almost everywhere. Not only do you see the amazing Perthshire hills and pinch-me sunsets but no matter how cold it is outside, so long as it's sunny, the house is warm. Solar panels also help."
Dream farmhouse kitchen
The star has created her dream kitchen by mixing modern style with classic farmhouse elements. The room is painted in a chic dark green and features white countertops.
An AGA oven is the perfect addition for any food lover. The house also boasts a trendy spiral staircase and a peaceful balcony connected to the main bedroom.
