Martine McCutcheon has given fans a peek inside her incredible home transformation after giving her entrance hall and living room a timeless makeover.
The Love Actually actress, 47, who recently opened up about her “invisible” health battle, took to Instagram where she shared a video of the stunning project, which saw her show off the enviable monochrome space. As she opened up a set of glass doors that divided the living area from the entrance way, fans caught a peek of the grand hallway which features statement black and white checkerboard tiles.
In keeping with the monochrome theme, the light and airy space features white painted woodwork and matching walls, with a black radiator and framed print tying the colours in.
Meanwhile, the equally gorgeous living space matches the feel of the entrance area and boasts plenty of neutral tones and textures and features herringbone flooring throughout. At one end of the room there is a large cream coloured sofa that is decorated with a series of patterned scatter cushions as well as a throw.
Behind the sofa is a black industrial-style floor lamp, ideal for cosy nights in reading a book or watching a box set. To break up the space, there is also a modern coffee table that’s decorated with a bouquet of white roses, a candle and a Kate Moss book.
Elsewhere, the other end of the room features a neutral coloured rug, leafy plant and a cream and wooden armchair.
“They say it’s all about the finer details and a beautiful finish and I’m so happy to share our entrance hallway and living room with you!” wrote Martine, before explaining that she wanted some “simplicity”. She continued: “I wanted something that wasn’t too try hard but also felt special and inspiring for the family too. For me I realised less was more and I wanted quality over quantity. Simplicity with beautiful pieces seem to work for me best.
“I have to thank @corstonarchitecturaldetail for being a dream to liaise with - Nothing was too much trouble! All our beautiful lighting, switches and sockets really add that touch of understated elegance.”
The actress, who has recently spoken out about going through perimenopause, went on to explain what fixtures and fittings she’d gone for after paying attention to the finer details.
“We chose the Claremont medium wall lights, bronze switches and bronze black sockets throughout,” she explained. “I shall be sharing more behind the scenes footage, answering some of your questions and listing more general information too but for now, it feels wonderful to finally be able to sit back, relax and enjoy our peaceful, tranquil space! #renovation #ournewhallway #livingroom #lighting #flooring #steeldoors #mystyle #easyelegance #peaceful #soft #makingahouseahome”.
In response, Martine’s fans were quick to gush over the lavish space.
“I’m in love. I’ve got tile floor samples like this for our bathroom. Fallen in love again after seeing yours xxx,” wrote one Instagram user.
“Wow! It’s looking gorgeous! As are you x,” another added. “Stunning great taste and classic,” a third wrote.
