Emmerdale's Samson Dingle actor, Sam Hall, has opened up regarding fears his character might soon be killed off. The 20 year old first appeared in the spotlight when he joined the soap at the tender age of five, stepping into the role of Sam Dingle's son.
Despite becoming a firm favourite over the years, fans were less than pleased with Samson's tougher side unveiled during a recent storyline with Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).
Speculation recently that the talented youngster could be saying goodbye to the Yorkshire Dales set alarm bells ringing amongst viewers, fuelled by persistent rumours suggesting his departure might be permanent. However, Sam downplayed these whispers during a recent interview with Inside Soap.
While keeping tight-lipped about current storylines, Sam reassured fans saying: "Well, I don't want to give too much away, but Samson has some really big stuff coming up." He also added: "Don't worry, as he's definitely not being killed off!”
Sam went on to enthuse about: "There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts."
Reflecting on his role, Sam humbly admitted: "I like playing mean Samson, but I think his good side always shines through. Like with the baby storyline, he was worrying about Amelia being okay for Esther because Samson obviously lost his mum and he didn't want his kid to grow up without a mum.
"So, he can get angry, but his intentions are always right in the end. At the end of the day, he was just a confused young teenager who didn't really expect to be having a kid so soon."
But could the soap be preparing us for a dark exit? Buzz about Sam's potential exit originally flooded the headlines back in April 2024, with a source telling The Sun: "Sam had a meeting with bosses earlier this month where they broke the news. He has been left devastated. He's grown up with his on-screen Dingle clan and they are all very protective of him."
The same insider revealed that "some of the cast even went to talk to bosses about their decision", emphasising that Sam's on-screen family, the iconic Dingles, actors like James Hooton aka Sam Dingle, Jeff Hordley, Lisa Riley, Lucy Pargeter and Mark Charnock, were all "angry" about the decision to axe their young pal.
"As news of his axing swept through the building there were quite a lot of angry Dingles. The fact that they are planning on killing him off means there'll be no way back for him either. He's absolutely gutted", spilled the insider.
An Emmerdale spokesperson had declined to comment at the time.
