Comedians might not usually be known for their toned, muscular physiques, but Joel Dommett is bucking the trend with his incredible body transformation.
The funnyman and TV presenter, 38, has made himself over from skinny to stacked with his dedication to diet and fitness, that has given him an enviable body.
And he recently set tongues wagging online by sparking rumours he'd signed up to a celebrity version of BBC One's TV hit, Gladiators.
Joel posted a pic to Instagram showing him in a white vest as he displayed his impressive biceps. Referring to one of the show's hosts in the caption, he said: "Ultimately we all just want to be a Gladiator and be hugged by Bradley Walsh."
Asked by Men's Health whether he was the fittest comedian on the circuit, the Masked Singer and In With A Shout host jokingly admitted: "Probably... I can't think of anyone. I mean, it's definitely quite a niche. It's enough of a niche that I think I'm probably the fittest UK comedian. Well, comedian, presenter, podcaster, author-slash-actor-slash-fashion icon…"
Joel, who recently welcomed his first child with wife Hannah Cooper, added that his time in the gym was his only time in the day when he wasn't on his phone and his agent knew not to contact him.
He told Men's Health: "It certainly settles my mind. Whenever I’m unable to train for a few days, or we've gone on holiday, I always feel like by the fourth day I'm just a bit of an a***hole. Hannah always asks me what's up, and I just say I need to go to the gym and sweat a bit or go for a run. I'm a nicer person when I work out."
He told Runner's World a bit more about his gruelling schedule, which includes running and gym sessions, saying: "I run three miles every day during the week - it's a mile and a half to the gym - and then do a long run every weekend."
And, encouraging others to jump on the fitness bandwagon, he likened it to a 'cult', telling Gay Times: "Honestly, give it a go. It will change everything for you! It’s a real cult, as soon as you’re involved, you’re stuck. It’s a great thing to be addicted to. Some people choose drugs or sex, I choose to sweat with other men."
Joel, who infamously lost one stone in weight while taking part in I'm A Celebrity in the Australian jungle back in 2016, also revealed his healthy diet move – eating the 'right carbs'. He told Sunday Brunch: “I don’t really like carbs - I mean, obviously you’ve gotta eat the right carbs but I don’t like them.”
As he tucked into a bowl of pasta he joked: “I can feel myself bloating!”
Watch Joel hosting In With A Shout, on Saturday, 11 May at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX
