Kate Middleton may be be the future Queen, but she always finds time to make her three children feel extra special on their birthdays.
The Royal Family mark a very special date as Prince Louis turns six on April 23, and no doubt the Prince and Princess of Wales will make their youngest child feel like, well, a little prince on his big day. And it is likely that Kate will carry out a heartwarming gesture which she does every year for the youngster – and her other two children George and Charlotte.
She once revealed how she has an adorable tradition she follows when one of her kids is about to turn a year older. Speaking in 2019, when she and William appeared on a BBC special with baking expert Mary Berry called A Berry Royal Christmas, she spoke of her love for baking and revealed how when it comes to the night before each of her children's birthdays: "I love making the cake."
She added: "It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."
Louis, who is fourth in line to the throne, was born on St George's Day in 2018 in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London, weighing 8lb 7oz. He was christened Louis Arthur Charles at 11 weeks old, by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace
Louis attends the private Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire alongside his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte and recently returned to the school following the Easter break.
While there will likely be lots of cake and fun within the Royal household for his big day, this year may be a more subdued affair as just before their Easter holidays, Kate revealed in a video message that she is undergoing treatment for cancer. The news emerged after it was revealed she underwent abdominal surgery and Kate said it was a "huge shock" and an "incredibly tough couple of months".
She looked particularly emotional when she spoke about how it affected her family – particularly her children.
Kate said: "It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.
"As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."
