King Charles reportedly pleaded with Mike and Zara Tindall for them not to make the drastic life-changing move Down Under, and it appears it could have worked. The couple, who are known travel enthusiasts, have been rumoured to be considering a permanent move to Australia.
However, it looks as though they are staying put as the Express reported that Mike and Zara have decided it isn't best for the family at this time. It is thought that instead the Tindalls will split their time between the UK and Australia during winter and summer getaways.
The news is said to have delighted King Charles, given his expressed desire to keep his family closely knit amidst the ongoing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle saga. Mike and Zara's unwavering commitment to the Royal Family is reported to have motivated them to rethink a potential irreversible move, so as to remain proximate to Zara's mother Princess Anne and her uncle.
The Tindalls have resided on the Princess Royal's Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire enjoying family life with their three kids Mia, Lena and Lucas. It seems the ideal spot for the family who are known to love the outdoors and of course, are big sport fans!
Former rugby ace Mike previously opened up about the possibility of living Down Under and said: "If we weren't so deeply rooted in England, Australia would be our top pick for a home.
"Australians have a great sense of humour, they like a bit of banter, they don't mind having a go at each other, they don't take each other too seriously... and I'm all about that."
The royal couple have been labelled "relatable" by the public and are known to share a close relationship with the King. Just this month, a heartwarming display of familial affection was shown between Charles and Zara as they shared a warm embrace at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The touching moment captured the genuine bond between uncle and niece as they greeted each other with open arms on the third day of the prestigious event held at Windsor Castle in England. Royal expert Jennie Bond weighed in on the encounter, noting the authenticity and warmth of the embrace.
"Now THAT’s a proper hug! And a proper relationship: loving, warm, and unselfconscious," she remarked, highlighting Zara's genuine affection for her uncle amidst his recent struggles. Jennie also emphasised the significance of such public displays of affection among the royals, noting a shift towards greater relatability and genuineness within the monarchy.
"We are seeing a lot more public displays of affection from the royals these days… and it’s a good thing," she added. "It makes them all much more relatable and genuine. The days of the stiff upper lip and polite handshakes are passing. Hooray!"
