Season 11 of MAFS Australia has provided plenty of entertainment over recent weeks, with the participants - who have all signed themselves up for the bold experiment - having taken on a slew of relationship tasks, from Confessions Week to Intimacy Week.
However, like any social experiment, not everything is guaranteed to go to plan, and one couple in particular are currently at the centre of a major drama. That's right - we're talking about the scathing letter Ben wrote to Ellie listing all the things he doesn't like about her.
While this sounds like the time in Friends where Ross listed reasons not to be with Rachel, Ben's version is real life, and therefore has unravelled major chaos between the couple. Especially because earlier on in the same episode, Ben had written a song for Ellie apologising for running away after the commitment ceremony, and for how he had treated her.
But for those yet to catch up on the Married at First Sight Australia episode and want to get the full lowdown of what Ben actually said about Ellie, here's the letter in full.
From vaping to spending too much time doing her makeup, Ellie has since said that she feels like she's "wasted her time" on the relationship...
What did Ben say in the letter?
So Dramatic! got hold of the hand written letter which detailed the following things that irritated Ben about Ellie. Titled, 'Why it's not working for me,' it includes:
- Not matching her sensitivity. When communicating problems, it results in an emotional outburst.
- Problems: more Ben time. Cooking/housework/balance the house $ groceries.
- Bedroom etiquette, walking up, Ellie… I feel unwelcome in the bedroom.
- Not wanting to debrief the day.
Vaping. Spending hours doing makeup - these were noted as "manageable."
Elsewhere, Ben also jotted down a list of things he believed weren't working for Ellie:
- Not debriefing the experiment. Not wanting to hear it.
- Not telling her my insecurities.
- Feels she doesn’t have a voice.
- I don't do well under pressure.
- Me off-camera vs on-camera.
- Not sharing my opinions in a group setting.
- I haven't called her out of her imperfections.
- Me not subscribing to drama.
After learning about the hurtful letter, Ellie addressed Ben on the show about how it made her feel.
"It's just so hurtful," she said to him. "What is that going to achieve apart from make me feel sh*t about myself?" she added, to which Ben replied: "I just want to finish my dinner."
She also spoke to the cameras about the list during the episode and said: "He didn't like that I applied makeup, because he's used to dating girls who don't wear a lot. He didn't like the fact that I was 32 and he's 39, he reckons there's a generational gap. He didn't like the fact that I'm from the Gold Coast, he didn't like that I'm sensitive and emotional. He would also like good conversation from me – apparently he's not getting good conversation."
Ellie then expressed that she felt like Ben was "nit picking" at her, and that she "felt cheated" by him.
