Prince Harry was reportedly left feeling 'sick' after his brother, Prince William, declined a wedding request with a four-word excuse.
The Duke of Sussex has since departed the UK following his brief visit to London, without having had a reunion with his elder brother. Harry made a fleeting return to his homeland to attend a special service for his Invictus Games at St. Paul's Cathedral.
He was accompanied by close relatives of his late mother, Princess Diana, including his aunt Lady Jane Fellowes and uncle Charles Spencer.
Meanwhile, his father, King Charles, was hosting a garden party at Buckingham Palace just two miles away during the service. William was also absent, as he was hosting an investiture at Windsor Castle at the time, reports the Daily Record.
The deep-seated rift between the feuding brothers appears to be far from healing. According to Harry's memoir Spare, tensions have been high between them long before he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals, reports the Mirror.
In his explosive autobiography, the duke alleged that he'd made a special request to Prince William ahead of his wedding to Meghan, only to be turned down.
On their wedding day, May 19, 2018, Harry and Meghan appeared overjoyed as they exchanged vows in a fairytale ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. William seemed to be the epitome of brotherly support, standing by Harry's side as he welcomed his bride down the aisle.
Behind the glamorous wedding facade, Prince Harry confided in his memoir that he felt 'sick' after an intense chat with William on the eve of his picturesque spring nuptials.
Harry had been enjoying pre-wedding drinks at Coworth Park Hotel with mates, where he was bunking ahead of the imminent grandeur at Windsor Castle. He reveals how William, a recent third-time dad, had planned to join them but bailed out last minute - pointing to 'Kate and their kids' as the reason.
Delving deeper into the evening, Harry shared about a tradition the brothers had - dining together before tying the knot just like they did before William's big day, followed by greeting the waiting crowds. But when he reminded William of this custom, his brother bluntly responded: "Why are you even saying hello to the crowds, Harold? " leading Harry to confess: "I felt sick about it."
In spite of all this, Harry unveils in his book that William did eventually decide to mingle with the public, causing an amused Harry to propose: "Maybe Granny intervened".
