Diana, Princess of Wales
Lady Diana Spencer was born in Norfolk on July 1, 1961 and had two elder sisters and one younger brother. At the age of 20, she became The Princess of Wales when she married the-then Prince Charles at St Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1980. The couple welcomed their first son, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, in 1982 and expanded their family again in 1984 with the birth of Prince Henry Charles Albert David. A trailblazer in modernising the Royal Family, Diana famously shook hands with AIDS patients without wearing gloves and later walked on an Angolan minefield to raise awareness about landmines. Diana tragically died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997 and is buried at her family home in Althorp, Northamptonshire.
