Ever since Adam Maxted arrived in the Love Island:All Stars villa as a last-minute bombshell, the 31 year old professional wrestler swiftly became one of the most talked about stars taking part in this year’s series.
Yet while many fans were understandably intrigued to see who would catch his eye this time around, his road to love didn’t exactly appear to be running smoothly when he clashed with on-screen stunner Arabella Chi.
In awkward scenes that aired on Monday, 12 February, Arabella made a move on Adam yet instead of embracing her advances, he reacted as though he couldn’t end the kiss soon enough!
Even more bafflingly however, despite the uncomfortable kiss the couple later happily coupled up, leading many fans to wonder what exactly was going on.
One theory about Adam’s reluctance to fully give in to the kiss may actually boil down to his previous experience in the Love Island villa, all the way back in 2016, when he famously coupled up with Katie Salmon. The pair made it all the way to the show’s final, but sadly fell at the final hurdle and placed fourth overall.
Despite missing out on the cash prize, the couple did agree to pursue a romance outside of the villa, but in a heartbreaking twist the couple lasted for just five days before splitting up.
After the breakup, neither Adam nor Katie held back in a scathing tirade online which hinted that their split was far from amicable, as both stars flung insult after insult at each other.
Taking to Twitter shortly after their split, Adam wrote: “It’s like when you’re eating a kebab after a night out and the first few bites taste good but then you realise that it really isn’t nice at all!”
Meanwhile Katie shared her own vicious comeback when she shot back: “It’s like getting socks at Christmas. Practical but no fun.” Yet in her subsequent attempt to be the bigger person, Katie then added: “ I don’t hold grudges I say my view then am done, I forget about it.”
Although the insults are just one glimpse inside what exactly caused the pair to split, they did come after Adam had previously admitted to being quite the Lothario before his Love Island days, with the star even admitting he had slept with more than 100 women.
Discussing his romantic conquests in an interview with OK! he said: "My mum is going to kill me! I have slept with quite a few girls. Girls come to Marbella on holiday and forget their morals and self-respect.They don't mind sleeping with someone because they can go back home and body knows about.”
Many of these short lived flings came while Adam was working as a PR manager in Marbella before he took part in the show, with the star continuing: “I’ve obviously got that reputation of being one of those typical guys who goes to the gym and works out, works abroad and is a player. I understand that I have been, but I've had my fun.”
Love Island: All Stars continues Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
