They are one of the most successful couples to emerge from the famous Love Island villa, and Molly Mae-Hague and Tommy Fury ’s love story had fans fall for the power couple.
But as Molly-Mae jets off to Ibiza for her sister Zoe Hague’s three-day hen do, while Tommy remains in Dubai to support his big brother Tyson for his upcoming boxing match, rumours continue to swirl that the couple may have ‘split’.
When she returned to Instagram on Friday, Molly-Mae added fuel to the fire with a snap - with no engagement ring in sight. It was of her and Zoe, who was dressed in white and had a small veil attached to her hair. "Let's go," she wrote alongside the post as they prepared to board the plane.
Previously, Molly-Mae had posted snaps on Instagram with daughter Bambi, one, and no engagement ring apparent, alongside the caption, “Rainy afternoon with the [princess emoji].”
Now, a source has claimed to OK! that Molly-Mae and Tommy are feeling the pressure, but still love each other, and remain determined to work things out. “There is always immense pressure on Molly and Tommy as public figures and Molly knows there are people out there who don’t like a Love Island success story,” the source told us.
They added that, as she gears up for her sister Zoe’s nuptials, it only adds to the pressure on her and Tommy. “She hates the constant speculation as it just adds more and more pressure.
“Molly is trying to go about her day-to-day life. Plus, she has a wedding coming up and she wants to concentrate on that. It’s such an exciting time for her family and she wants the focus to be on Zoe, not her and Tommy.
“Going their separate ways is the last thing they want. She and Tommy love each other and adore Bambi, but like other couples, they have their ups and downs and want to get through it together as a family.”
The source also told OK! that the couple live very busy lives, which naturally leads to time apart. “Molly and Tommy are used to spending time apart, they have quite separate lives. Tommy loves going away, especially to Dubai and wouldn’t have missed this trip to watch Tyson for anything. He would’ve loved Molly to come with him but she had her sister’s hen do and family is so important to them both.
“Plus, this is quite normal for them – Tommy does his thing and Molly does her thing. They are obviously together as much as they can be for Bambi but they have lots of work commitments and Molly in particular has always been very independent. They don’t have to live in each other’s pocket.”
Last week, Tommy – who proposed to Molly on a clifftop in Ibiza in July last year – flew to Dubai to support his older brother Tyson Fury before his next big fight. But the rumour mill went into overdrive when fans worked out that Molly-Mae hadn’t accompanied him for the family affair.
However, it soon became clear why she hadn’t made the trip when Molly-Mae took to Instagram Stories to share preparations for Zoe’s Ibiza hen, sharing a snap of her pink nails alongside the caption, “Did someone say hen do? @zoehague.”
Nonetheless, Molly-Mae’s lack of interaction on Tommy’s social media post about his bro’s big fight sparked one follower to say, “There’s something going on here with him and Molly-Mae and I don’t like it one bit.” Another fan said, “I feel like they’ve broken up. Something bad seems to have happened and I can just feel it.”
But others argued that people shouldn’t read so much into their social media activity. One follower wrote, “Omg just because they don’t post one another doesn’t mean they’re not together and still in love.”
However, rumours the couple may have “split” have been circulating since Molly-Mae jetted off to Dubai earlier this month without her fiancé. Tommy was noticeably absent when she shared posts of her hotel (Atlantis The Royal, where an apartment costs around £2,000 per night).
This came days after the mum-of-one failed to wish her other half a happy 25th birthday on social media, or publicly acknowledge his special day, leading fans to wonder why not even a selfie appeared on her Instagram page for her partner of five years.
“Because they’ve had issues before and Molly has always made a fuss of Tommy on his birthday, fans are worried that they have split,” our source told us. “Their relationship has been played out in public from the beginning and everyone is invested in it.”
The former creative director of PrettyLittleThing was also unusually silent on social media when Tommy revealed that he’d been given a role in upcoming comedy movie The Debt Inherited – quite a difference to the previously gushing quotes she’d normally share about Tommy.
This all comes just months after Molly, 24, removed her engagement ring for the first time following a supposed fallout with Tommy, which came after the boxer was snapped partying topless with women during a work trip to Abu Dhabi, alongside American rapper Chris Brown.
It was something Molly-Mae later opened up about in one of her YouTube vlogs. “I have been going through it in more ways than one,” she said with the engagement ring clearly missing from her finger. “I am hoping, in say about a week, I might be in a place mentally, physically, emotionally where I can start filming some proper content for you guys again and get back on my channel. So please bear with me, I am really desperate to come back to you guys.”
By Christmas, Molly’s ring was back on, and it seemed they were back on track. But according to our source, a part of Molly has “never really got over” Tommy’s behaviour in Abu Dhabi last year.
“He always insisted that he didn’t do anything wrong, but Molly was furious with him for putting himself in that position, especially right after they’d got engaged. She felt so humiliated and it took the shine off the engagement for her.”
Still, the source claims that Molly-Mae chose to forgive, but has found it harder to forget. They also add that the couple have “never quite been the same” but still very much “love” each other and are “both besotted with Bambi and put her first”.
According to our source, Molly-Mae’s focus right now is her little girl, and making sure the lead-up to her sister’s big day is as special as possible., “It’s Molly’s dream to have her own big white wedding, and she still wants that. But her main focus at the moment is giving her sister the best run-up to her wedding.”
