Ever since the Prince of Wales took over the role as head of the Duchy of Cornwall from his father back in September 2022, Prince William has made it clear he intends to make his mark and continue to focus projects which are dear to his heart, from the environment to homelessness.

On his most recent visit to Cornwall, William delighted the crowds as he spoke about his children and gave an encouraging update on the Princess of Wales, saying: “She's doing well, thanks."

He also revealed that his three young children were jealous of his trip to Cornwall and said they might come away for a holiday later this year. But where do they stay when they visit the area?

While William has access to a number of Duchy properties for his trips to the area, Tamarisk House is thought to be a favourite and is located on Tresco Island in the Isles of Scilly, just off the coast of Cornwall.

The island itself is the only one of the five islands which is privately owned and is said to boast white sand, turquoise waters, rare birds and lush flora and fauna. It has even been dubbed the ‘Cornish Caribbean’.

Previously a home of the King during his tenure as Prince of Wales, a number of tamarisk trees were grown to hide parts of the house from view to protect the royals' privacy.

When Charles and Diana married back in 1981, it was used as a summer escape for them and their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Prince and Princess of Wales also enjoy the area and have been pictured there with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on a handful of occasions.

During a previous visit, fellow holidaymakers described what it was like seeing the royals. They said: "We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves. The place where they were staying was quite modest and certainly not hugely luxurious."

In September 2022, Prince William became the 27th Prince of Wales and was granted the additional titles of the Duke of Cornwall, the Earl of Chester, the Duke of Rothesay, the Earl of Carrick, the Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

William also inherited the vast private estate of the Duchy of Cornwall which was established by King Edward III in 1337 for his son, Prince Edward, the Black Prince.

The Duchy of Cornwall covers more than 130,000 acres and crosses 23 counties in the UK, making it an enormous undertaking. At the age of 21, the responsibilities for the Duchy were passed to the-then Prince Charles and now belong to William.
