Coronation Street
Coronation Street, Britain's longest-running soap, has been on air since 1960. The ITV show is set in Weatherfield, a fictional town in Manchester. Dubbed Corrie by its legion of fans, it follows the dramatic lives of its residents, and has led the way in TV firsts. In 1998 Hayley Cropper became the first transgender character to appear in a British soap. Stars like Michelle Keegan, Helen Flanagan and Sally Dynevor have all played major roles in Corrie.
